Aacckkkk!!

My dogs.  Buddha and Stella.  They're beautiful, right?  Well, I know at least some people think so.  Enough to stop me on the street when I'm walking them and tell me so.  To ask me what it is that I feed them to make their coats so very shiny.

On the list of the things that I feed them is the following:

Organic Chicken
Organic Lamb
Organic Vegetables
Organic Salmon
Organic Yogurt
Organic Berries and Nuts
Wild Salmon Oil

Not on the list:

Used Maxi Pads
Rotting Kentucky Fried Chicken containers
Discarded half-eaten Taco Bell burritos

Can someone, anyone, please explain to me what it is about a used maxi pad that is so damn appealing to a dog?  Buddha and Stella today ate all the used Maxi Pads that were in my trash can.  All.Of.Them.  I found just a few shreds of scraps of blue plastic wrapper on the couch.  Which means, yes, they chose to enjoy this delightful delicacy while lazing about on the couch watching the world walk by the windows.  I can just imagine the two of them, stretched out facing one another, the pile of pads Stella has scored from the trash can between them, wondering if they should bother me for some ketchup or mustard? 

I feed Buddha and Stella an all organic diet that is carefully calibrated to provide them with optimum nutrition and health.  They obviously believe that Maxi Pads are the cherry on their yogurt sundae.  When I take them to the dog park tonight, the very first thing they'll do is run to the edge where they'll check to see if any of the resident homeless population has discarded their unwanted KFC or Taco Bell.  They find these things, rotting, shoved far under bushes and trees.  And before I can yell DROP IT, they've inhaled them.  Styrofoam, paper wrapping, chicken bones and all. 

Used Maxi Pads and smelly, rotten chicken.  Now that's a dinner you can just sink your teeth into, huh?  Don't you just wish you could join them?

postscript: I just got back from shopping at Costco.  They had 100% organic dog biscuits that did not contain wheat or corn.  Buddha has a wheat allergy, so I am always on the lookout for treats that do not contain wheat!  I bought two boxes because I'm worried that Costco will stop carrying them just like they did with the Organic Peanut Butter that Clyde loved so much.  So if you have a dog and he likes treats more than Maxi Pads (and what dog doesn't??), go to Costco and get him some of the Organic Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits.  Buddha and Stella have already given them 4 paws up!

One story in my world that never goes away is the friend whose dog devoured his number2 when he got up to answer the phone (only a guy). Oh, you made me laugh. And thanks for your previous entry on backing-up/exporting your blog. Same kind of questions that plague my hapless mind.

I believe Chelsea Girl's dog enjoys snacking on her used tampons...maybe's it's the blood they smell? Yoicks.
